My Review: I have been a huge Cassandra Calin fan ever since I came across her comics a couple of years ago. Of course, even then like now, I was a fan of her candid and unapologetic comic illustrations which Cassandra used to portray her life through.
I Left the House Today is her second book and I was delighted to be able to see them all together even though I had seen most of it on her Instagram handle (@cassandracalin). The book starts by showing how hard it is to go out for someone who loves the space and company of their own house. Some of the comics made me laugh louder and harder than I have all quarantine!
Her comics have always brought comfort and relatable oh’s with all my day to day weird funny habits. There are so many events we got through in our everyday lives without even noticing how often those habits are shared by so many of us around the world. And it’s such a relief to in fact discover that I don’t go through those many moments in life alone, the most relatable of all being the conversation between Cassandra and her friend at the restaurant on periods!
On a human level Cassandra makes our weirdness not only relatable but also acceptable! Reading her book added the drama I needed in my quarantined life right now. In fact I am glad to not be the only one whose love for drama in her daily routine is also the source of most of her entertainment!
I recommend this to anyone looking for a light, read-in-one-go kind of book filled with loads of relatable moments. I loved it! Will definitely reread it! And I recommend you do too!
